(Later in the day!)
Yes.... I am part of the 15% of women whose water breaks before they go to the hospital. When the fluid was leaking slowly I thought it might be my water breaking and that I might go into labor but I tried not to get my hopes up. When we were at my mom's and I felt the gush of fluid, I got to the bathroom and saw like a clear sac thing. It was the lining of the amniotic fluid. When we got to the hospital, I told them I was pretty sure my water broke. When the nurse came in, I told her what happened and she said "are you sure it wasn't your bloody show? (or mucus plug)"
Well I started dilating at 35 weeks and lost it then, so...... NO! It wasn't the mucus plug. I felt like no one believed me when I said my water broke. Also, my blood pressure was really high so they were worried that I had preeclampsia which could be dangerous for me and the baby. They put an IV in me and gave me magnesium (which I didn't know at the time, but it tends to slow down labor and dilation. which is crazy because I totally dilated on my own and I did so fairly quickly.) Kael was just ready to come. Finally the nurse came in and said "yes, your water definitely broke." So this was really going to happen. So I was really in pain waiting for the epidural. She finally came in to give it to me and I was so nervous. I actually had a contraction while she was giving me the epidural. I tried so hard not to move. Things felt better and I tried to sleep. It was hard though because I felt so itchy and uncomfortable. I was dilated to an 8 at 5:00 am and the nurse asked if I felt pressure down low in my bottom. At that point, I didn't, but once she left I started feeling this intense pressure and urge to push. I was so nervous. I called for the nurse to come back. When she got back I was at a 10 and a new nurse came to help me push. Dr. Quin wasn't going to be able to deliver my baby because It was a weekend and he was not the on call doctor. The nurse and Doctor (Dr. Merril) were both great. The nurse started to help me push and she was saying she could feel Kael's head. Ammon said he was jealousand then the nurse told Ammon to get a glove and to feel his head too. Ammon seemed a little freaked out but he said it was awesome. Ammon got to help out a lot during the delivery. He held on to one of my legs and cheered me on with the nurse on the other leg. Although I had an epidural it seemed like I could feel everything. It was painful, but pushing made it better. I was pushing and everyone was cheering me on and I heard Ammon say " honey, he has a lot of dark hair." When he was finally out, Ammon said "it IS a boy!" And he was and still is the most beautiful boy! I didn't expect the doctor to lay my baby right onto me but he did. Kael was all bloody and stuff but it was so amazing to have him on me! Ammon then cut the cord and they took my baby to do tests while I got sewed up. Everyone was enjoying my baby while i was going through pain with the doctor pushing on my stomach to get out all of the placenta and stuff. It hurt a lot. Then I got to hold my baby skin to skin and it was the most amazing feeling ever! Then I fed him. It was so strange feeling but also so amazing! it was a great experience! Painful but so worth it!

While I was in labor I threw up.. It was weird then afterwards I was hungry and thirsty when I was done so they brought me breakfast. It was waffles, eggs, and sausage. I let Ammon have the eggs and sausage and I had the waffles. Then the nurse came back in to bring me to the recovery room. I sat up in the bed, put my arms around the nurse and tried to stand up. Apparently I passed out for a few seconds, woke up and asked what happened, then I passed out again, this time for about a minute. All I remember is waking up confused the second time and asking what happened then threw up. Ammo had a bag ready. It tasted like an orange julius. The nurses put me back into the bed and wheeled me in the bed to my new room. I felt so weird being on the magnesium. My eyes felt weird. The doctor and the nurse in the delivery room both thought I really didn't have preeclampsia and that I didn't need the magnesium. They said the protein in my urine was from my water breaking. The blood test came back negative, and my blood pressure was high because of the stress/excitement of what was happening. So I had to stay on the magnesium and slowly take the dosage down for the next 24 hours. My blood had to be taken every 6 hours. The girl who took my blood was not very good at it because every time she took my blood, she bruised me. She took my blood 4 times then a guy did it and he did not bruise me and was lucky to find a spot without a bruise. It was so amazing to have my baby there! He is beautiful!
