Just a Little about Kael! (okay a lot!)

I feel so bad that I can't get on everyday and write about all of the cute things my boy does! He is the most amazing child! I love him so very much! I have tried to write down some simple things on a notepad so I could come and write about it later.. This is what I have...

Kael loves Despicable Me and Tangled. Those are his favorites. He smiles at the minions and just loves all the Tangled songs. Rango and The Lion King are new contenders. He laughs at the first part of Rango (that is realy all we ever watch) and He gets so excited and points to every animal that comes on the screen during Lion King. He also laughs at Timon and Pumba.

He tries to turn the tv on himself and is usually successful at either the tv or the ps. He points at the tv with such longing to watch it.

Kael is such a sound effects boy! He knew how to make car sounds before I even realized he knew what they were. He also roars when showing us his dinosaurs, lions, tigers, or anything that looks like it might roar. We also recently went to a Halloween party and he roared at some of the decorations there. He also does snake sounds. He picks up his snakes and hisses. He has an alligator that he mistakes for a snake who also hisses. :) He copies us when we make certain sound effects while reading to him. When I read the Wheels on the Bus and I get to the wipers that swish,  he makes a swish sounds. It is so cute. When I read Rock a Bye Baby, I make the sounds of the wind and the breaking of the tree branch and he also tries to make those sounds as I read to him.

He used to try to say Thank You when I would hand him a snack or treat that he wants. It sounded more like "hey you" but it was cute. I always said thank you as I gave him something and I guess he just picked up on it. The sad thing is, he no longer does this. I don't know why. Maybe I stopped saying thank you and so he did. It makes me sad that he hasn't continued to do this.

Kael has learned the art of sword fighting. Dad taught him with a play sword we got him and a mini baseball bat from grandma and grandpa. They use sound effects and everything.

For the longest time Kael used to grab my hand whenever he wanted something and would take me where he wanted. It could be the kitchen because he wanted a snack, or his room because he wanted to play in there. I tried to get him to say mamma as he did this. It may have worked at one point but he doesn't use mamma all that much. He now just comes up to me and taps me on my leg.

He loves his cars, dinosaurs and animals. Those are some of his favorite toys. He plays with his cars in a doll house I made. He also puts them down the slide. He gets so excited when he hands his animals to me wanting me to tell him what it is.. Now he knows almost all the farm and zoo animals. He doesn't name them but when we ask "where's the elephant" he can find it amongst 25 other animals. He knows so many things, he just doesn't say them. I hope he will start saying the names soon as I of course am worrying...

He loves chocolate milk, water, and really anything to drink. He loves his liquids. His favorite foods are hot dogs, corn dogs, pb & j, grilled cheese, beans, corn, chicken and mashed potatoes, waffles, german pancakes, rice and oatmeal cereal, chicken dipped in lots of ranch. He is a dipper. He likes to dip chicken in ranch, hot dogs in ketchup, quesadillas in hot sauce.

He now knows how to climb onto the couch and he thinks he is pretty cool when he does it.

He copies the things we do. He tries to put on my necklaces, he puts on both dad and moms shoes, he brushes his hair, he tries to crochet like mommy, he takes moms makeup brushes and sweeps it in his face or head. He tries to vacuum and sweep like mom and dad. He brushes his own teeth (after I do it first)

He has learned to give dirty looks. His Grandma Ligia was watching him a couple months ago and when we left he of course was crying. He doesn't see her all that much plus he never is away from me. Anyway he sat on the couch and watched despicable me and how to train your dragon. He did not move. He was too scared. When we went to pick him up, he saw me and started bawling again. He was very upset I would leave him like that. After that night Kael started to not trust people and would give dirty looks to almost everyone. He has gotten better and now only gives dirty looks when he is upset or uncertain.

Waves bye to dad when he leaves and blows kisses and when he gets home, he runs to him and gives him a big hug.

It used to be that every time we walked by our neighbors fake dog at their door, he would wave and try to say "hi dog" he doesn't do that so much anymore. Actually, they may have moved the dog. Not sure.

Kael likes to poke at my pregnant belly. He will pat it and kiss it or poke and laugh at it. A couple months ago, I asked Kael where his baby brother was and having no idea what he would do, he lifted up his own shirt and pointed to his belly. :D Now he usually will lift up my shirt and pat my belly but every once in a while you will still get him patting his own belly.

He will fall on the ground when he gets upset or sometimes even bangs his head against things. He is dramatic and very sensitive when he doesn't get what he wants.

He likes to look at animals faces. He will bend down and look right at their face.

He loves stuffed animals and pillows and blankets. He loves to cuddle with them. When he was a baby, he never slept with anything not even a blanket because Ammon and I were too scared of SIDS. Now we have been giving him a blanket and a pirate stuffed animal to sleep with. He knows it is sleepy time when he cuddles them. He plays with the pirate's yarn hair while we read books.

He loves playing in sand, rocks, dirt, wood chips etc. when we go out to play. He will go down the slide a few times but mostly likes to explore or see what other kids are up to. He is drawn to the older kids. There is a group of boys that are his cousin Grady's age (3-4) that he loves to follow around. He also loves to bounce the balls that kids leave outside around on the bball court. He tries to shoot it in the hoop.. :D

He had been going to sleep on his own for a while without any whimpers. I would give him a bath (he would play for almost an hour) then we brush his teeth, turn the light on and off a few times, put lotion on (kael helped rubbing it on himself) then pjs and reading time. After we read I put him in his crib and he would fall asleep on his own without crying. Then it started taking like an hour for him to fall asleep. It got me feeling so guilty to leave him in there even though he wasn't crying. This past weekend, Kael has started to get upset when trying to get to sleep. He has started to say nigh nigh when i put him in his crib and say it to him. So cute! Now he will talk and babble for an hour and then fall asleep.

Kael loves Sesame street. He is mesmerized by it. He will sit and watch the whole thing. He can point out elmo, big bird, cookie monster, zoe, and grover when asked (maybe more) He also likes word world,  jungle junction and the happy monster band songs. (he actually really likes tv which makes me nervous.. I try not to let him watch too much. just one sesame street a day)

Kael now knows his body parts. He used to point to his eye for whatever we asked. But he really knows a lot now. Belly was probably first because it is so fun to tickle his belly. Then he learned feet/foot from the flash cards then just from always asking and reading books about body parts he knows head, eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, belly, hands, feet, and has recently learned bum (he points to the front of his diaper when asked if either he pooped or where his bum is. He's got the idea. :D)

Still sleeps in his crib but he takes his naps in his big boy bed. (he falls asleep while I read to him and then I put him in his car bed.) I don't know how he is going to fall asleep on his own in a bed that he can get out of.I am so nervous to get him sleeping at night in his bed but I know we need to soon.

favorite books are Duck in the Truck, Brown Bear Brown Bear, I'm going to eat you, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, What Shall we do with the Boo hoo Baby, His zoo book, Baby Happy Baby Sad, and all his nursery rhymn books and sesame street books and animal books. He really loves books.

He tries to play with his baseball bat and ball and hit the ball like mom and dad do but it looks more like golfing. Has actually been saying ball. The other day he picked up a crocheted football and said "ball" then he kept saying it with other balls. :D so excited to have another word. hopefully he keeps using it.

When Kael find dandelions (or anything of the sort) he picks them and blows.. So cute to see him try to blow the seeds off. He also has learned about bubbles and knows exactly what to do with them. I did not show him. He saw his bubbles that the last time we used them was like when he turned one. He wanted me to get them and instantly looked for the bubble wand (I even think he was trying to say bubbles.. bubba) when I got the wand out for him he instantly put it to his mouth and blew. :D my cute boy.

Kael is the best dancer ever! He gets so into it. He lifts his legs up high and does a little jog. So so cute! He dances when you say dance and when he hears music. sometimes he will just sway if the music is slow. He also jumps when you say jump. He bends down and looks real intense them pops up while lifting one leg. That is his jump. Love it.

He put sunglasses, necklaces and headbands on. All on his neck. The headbands and sunglasses go in front around the neck while the necklaces go behind around the neck.

One time we went to del taco with Kael's cousins and the thing that Kael wanted to play with was the shoes in the shoe bins.

Kael now gives high fives. The first time I asked for a high five, Kael was so excited and didn't know what to do so he hugged my arm. :D

Whenever Kael hears outside or bye bye he stands by the door or grabs his shoes and brings them to me. He has started trying to say shoes and I think it ends up something like ooz because he hears the oes part emphasized.

Kael definitely knows no and uses it when he doesn't want something or when something he doesn't like is happening. He says yeah  when I show him something he wants or sometimes when I ask if he wants food or something. He used to say "hiya" for hi when we would play on the playground and peek through the holes of the tunnel but now he says other things I do not understand. I thought I have heard "whats that" while lifting up an animal or something but it is so hard to know if it was on purpose or not. Kael used to say "buh" for bye when he first turned one but does not do that anymore. The other night while taking a bath, Kael pointed to his tiger's eye and said "eye" so perfectly. He continued to say it during bath. Last night while taking a bath I saw him pointing to an animals eye and he said "aye" it was like he kinda remembered how to say it but it ended up a little different. He kind of said it that way over and over while pointing to all the toys eyes.

Kael has began to love play dough. Although sometimes he just wants to open the containers, take the play dough out and put it back, he really enjoys it. He saw me rubbing a piece in my hands to make a snake and he copied me, rolling it between his cute, sweet hands. He also loves to draw/color and play in his rice beach i made him. (because he loves sand)

I love the way Kael gets so excited over everything around him. He gets excited to see ants on the ground and points to them and watches them. He hears airplanes and looks in the sky and waves bye bye to them (I though I heard him try to say airplane yesterday. I heard the plane part more.) He looks at flowers and plants and picks dandelions. He sits at a tree and plays with the dirt and rock around the tree. He stops to pick up rocks. I love everything about my child. I love his kisses and hugs. He gives me many everyday. He is such a loving and energetic little boy. I cannot express what he means to me. He means everything to me.
