4 Months old!

Kael is 4 months old and one week. He is the most amazing baby ever! Last time we wrote, we thought Kael was getting a cold. A few weeks after taking him to the doctor's we noticed he still cried a lot. He didn't like other people holding him and was very particular if the way he was held. I was afraid he was always going to be like this and no one would ever want to hold him. Some family members mentioned gastroesophogal reflux disease. I looked it up and it all seemed to add up. He always acted like he wanted to eat because he wanted to coat his burning throat with the taste of milk. he spit up a lot and cried a lot. We had been to the doctor a couple of times and they told me my baby was fine. Finally I made sure we saw Dr. Duffy and when he heard him cry, he knew it was GERD and gave us a prescription for prevacid to give to him. Since then he has been such a happy baby! Everyone comments on how he is always smiling and that he is the happiest baby they have ever seen! We have done some fun things with Kael. For Memorial day we went to the zoo. He slept most of the time and woke up for the bird show.

On the 3rd of July we went to see fireworks at the park. I was so worried about the loud music and firework noise. I held my fingers in his ears and we watched the show. He watched it for half the time then fussed for a few minutes then fell right asleep and slept through the rest of the show.

The next day, Sunday July 4th, Kael Ammon Gifford was given a blessing by his daddy Ammon. There were 3 babies that were blessed. I was so worried Kael was going to cry the whole time. They had Kael go first. I didn't hear a peep from Kael. Ammon gave him a beautiful blessing.Ammon was worried about it, but it was truly amazing. He said everything perfectly and Kael was perfect. Ammon told me that when he was up there, Kael's binky fell out of his mouth but the Bishop caught it and stuck it back in his mouth. So funny. I didn't realize anything happened. It is funny he took his binky because he hardly ever takes it. Especially now. Kael fell right asleep for the rest of sacrament. We had family and friends over at my parents for sandwiches and other goodies. It was a great day!

We have also brought Kael camping. We spent the night in my parents trailer. He usually was a good sleeper but this night he woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep. It was so weird. I was cramped on the bed and couldn't sleep. I was up all night. It was a hot night. We used mini fans to keep Kael cool.

We also brought Kael to the lake many times. Mostly to just hang out and relax with my family. We never really put him in the water. But when we went with my cousins, Ammon stuck his legs in. He thought it was very interesting! He likes water. We brought him swimming a few times, once to seven peaks with my whole family even cousins from Washington! It was so fun!. He was asleep at first when we got there so Ammon and I tried to do as many things as we could like slides and such. When he woke up he was so happy and we put him in a floaty and in the water. He just kicked his legs a lot. He liked it but it did get cold being in there too long.  He really enjoys bath time with his toy squirters. He loves to kick his legs and just be in the water.

A week before Kael turned 3 months, we decided to put Kael in his own room. From birth until then he slept in a play yard next to our bed. I always considered myself pretty lucky because Kael always knew when night time was. Inside me, he was always up at night kicking like crazy (which I didn't mind.. I like knowing he was still there.) but since he was born, he has slept good at night for the most part. I actually set an alarm at night so I could feed him every three hours. I thought I needed to. Kael was such a small guy, only in the 7th percentile so I guess I wouldn't go back and change it. Now I have a big healthy boy in the 58th percentile. even though I got him up so much, he always went back to sleep very good. Actually, he would fall asleep while eating so Ammon would change his diaper in between feeding him to get him to wake up and eat more. It was a struggle to nurse in the beginning. It hurt a lot. My milk wasn't coming in. Kael was amazing though. He knew exactly what to do from the moment that he first tried just a little after he was born, to now. He amazes me! He used to eat like 40 mins to an hour and now it only takes like 15 mins.

We have come a long way! from praying that I get pregnant, then surgeries, miscarriage, pills, getting pregnant, being so scared to lose him, seeing his heart flicker, hearing his heartbeat, seeing him somersault inside me, seeing all his organs and skeletal system, seeing my BOY, feeling him more and more, water breaking, contractions, giving birth, then holding my beautiful precious angel in my arms. THE MOST AMAZING FEELING! I didn't know if I would ever experience it! I am so truly thankful I did. Kael is my world! My pride and joy! He wakes up so happy after sleeping 10-12 hours (with one feed) That is what we wake up to. Our talking, giggling baby boy! It is so amazing! Such a great way to start the day!

Kael loves to talk! People say that he talks more than any baby they have seen at his age. He has been babbling like crazy for the past 2 months. He also smiles so much! When I smile at him, he smiles back. Such a cute big smile. Sometimes he smiles and turns away with a kind of bashful smile. He has so much personality! He is so fun! He has been reaching and grabbing toys and talking. He gets so excited sometimes and he screeches. I wish I could remember every little thing about my baby boy. He is growing up so fast and I am so scared to forget anything. I am so excited for all the new things I will get to experience with Kael but I am sad to leave behind all the memories of a newborn Kael. They are memories now. I wish I could pull out my memories from my head and relive them whenever I want. Feeling him inside me, the moment I saw him for the first time, held him for the first time and fed him for the first time, bringing him home, skin to skin and so many more things. I have bitter sweet feelings about him getting so big!

Kael is such a Beautiful and  Amazing Boy!
